ZDAR a.s.
ZDAR is a company based in Žďár nad Sázavou, providing a very wide range of services—from freight and bus transport to operating filling stations in Žďár and Velké Meziříčí.
Their fleet includes nearly 100 trucks and 150 buses! If you have ever driven through the Vysočina region, it is almost impossible not to have encountered a bus sporting the ZDAR logo.
Do they really need to use EDI?
Logistics companies very often utilize Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) because it simply makes things easier. In large companies, operating without EDI is now almost impossible.
ZDAR is among those who utilize EDI communication to the fullest, and they chose us, nesosEDI, as their provider. We are delighted to handle the message mapping and conversion for them.
ZDAR needs to communicate with their business partner (another logistics company) and to keep their „diaries in sync“ (figuratively speaking), they use EDI 🙂. Based on the requirements of their logistics partner, the ANSI standard was chosen for communication. (you can read about ANSI here).
Curious about what messages they exchange?
First, I should mention, that every message sent in the ANSI standard is identified by a three-digit code, which determines the message type.
ZDAR exchanges the following messages with its partner:
– EDI 214 – These are carrier updates, specifically transport statuses that indicate, for example, the current location of the cargo or the estimated time of delivery. (Transportation Carrier Shipment Status Message)
– EDI 210 – This message contains shipping details and the invoice. (Motor Carrier Freight Details and Invoice).
A quick note: Sometimes a business partner wants to communicate via EDI but also needs to receive PDFs for various reasons. That is exactly the case here. Within the EDI 210 message, we send a PDF file alongside the standard EDI data.
– EDI 204 – A message used to send transport orders. (Motor Carrier Load Tender).
Would you like us to help you with EDI too? Drop us a line :)!
